Typical fauna

The region is home to a remarkable number of species typical of Lapland and already of the arctic zone. The observation of capercaillie and black grouse is particularly possible during the song period in spring when they can be observed from the tracks without disturbing them. More random to observe but present, the trio of great Nordic owls : lapone, hawkweed and the Urals, accompanied by smaller species : Tengalm and owl owl.

Among the sparrows and peaks typical of Lapland : rustic buntings, durbecs, crossbills parrots, sizerins flammés, crimson finches, waxwings, mimicry and three-toed woodpeckers. Arctic loons, Goldeneye tourniquets and whooper swans are easy to observe on the lakes where they breed.

Reindeer are most visible during the winter period when the Sami have brought their herds down from the mountains.. Moose, beavers and mountain hares are widespread. Lynx, wolverines and brown bears are present but their observation remains difficult.

The river Vindeln crosses the region. Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it is particularly rich in fish and is home to the European Otter. The high densities of fish in the lakes allow the presence of the white-tailed eagle and the osprey.
